Birthday Month

My wife’s dance teacher claims all of January as her birthday month, with a full calendar of activities. Since my birthday follows in February, I usually emulate her, tongue partially in cheek.
This year, the remainder of the month offers a variety of opportunities to enjoy my presence.

On the 15th, at 3PM, I’ll be playing for the first time with the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony. It’s a day show, 3PM, at the fancy new auditorium at New Roads school in Santa Monica. Free admission. We’re playing Beethoven 3 and an octet not including me is playing Stravinsky’s “A Soldier’s Tale.”

On the 20th at 8PM I’ll be with Charles Sharp and Andrea Centazzo as the group Next, playing free improvisation at the Battery Books & Music in South Pasadena. $5 donation.

On the 27th & 28th I’ll be part of Adam Rudolph’s Go: Organic Orchestra at the Electric Lodge in Venice. Get your advance tickets at the date links and save a few bucks.

So, that’s not a bad month at all, and things will keep rolling into March…
